This is a story about the cycles of life, how history repeats itself in sometimes a strange and distorted way.

It is about listening to the voice inside of all of us, the one we know has the most of the answers, but we often choose to ignore, because the thundering waterfall of life's experiences often conveniently drowns it out.

God starts with a whisper and ends with a yell, and so on and so on.

Nothing is as it seems, yet all familiar to anyone who has ever known or been, a human.

The Bird And The Waterfall

i'm sure this is only one of many "fan letters" you are receiving today but i had to add my voice to the chorus as you deserve the highest praise the performances were outstanding. the musicianship, acting, blocking, choreography was all world-class but the music, the story and the way it unfolded were what really sets this play apart. my god, what a daring concept! from the opening sequence, which seemed to wrap the complexities of life up in a nutshell to the explosive finale, the whole thing was a delight. i was engaged every second.

there's one ingredient that is often missing in highly conceptualized artwork - when something has been wrung through the ringer a million times on it's way to presentation often it seems like the soul or heart gets lost. not here. one thing i really didn't expect was to be affected so emotionally.

filtering your play through my own set of experiences, what i got was the message that love and life cannot be controlled or squashed into the societal and familial strangleholds we call "the norm". there is no norm. and when we try to ignore the voice that calls us to love, whatever barriers may be in the way, the consequences of our choices can be devastating. but regardless of how we try to destroy love in the name of what is "proper" it will still "find a way." thank god!

i'm not sure if that was your intent but that's what i got out of it. it's a message i really needed to hear last night.

so thank you kirsten. for the play and your amazing, beautiful creative spirit.

- Dear Ms.Nash,

I had the pleasure of attending the Saturday night performance of your show this last weekend. I felt compelled to write you after the experience and tell you how talented I think you are. I just visited your website and am even more impressed. I heard about the show through a friend and came to see it as I live on the North Shore and try to support local arts as much as possible. I have been a loyal theatre goer for over 20 years now and have to say that the overall production and cast of your show was one of the best I've seen. Besides the music being absolutely beautiful and the story interesting, the lighting and stage design were very impressive. I have to say that my favourite aspect of the show though, would have to be the cast. Where did you find all that talent? I'm sitting here with the program in hand and am so shocked that I have not encountered some of these performers before. In particular my husband and I were blown away with Danielle St. Pierre and Steve Maddock. Ms. St. Pierre's acting was impeccable and her singing was flawless. Her character was down to earth and real and her emotions genuine. Her and Mr.Maddock's chemistry was delightful and his performance was awe inspiring (what a voice!). Well done on giving these two the exposure they obviously deserve. That said, the entire cast was just wonderful and strong. Others we enjoyed specifically were David Steel, Joanie Bye and Danny Balkwill. Well done. Some of our favorite scenes (I'm sorry I don't know the names of the songs) were the talkshow segment, the final song before intermission and the touching song in the hospital room. I'm holding my breath hoping that you will re-stage this show in Vancouver with a longer run. Trust me when I say that I would personally promote it to everyone I know! You are an extremely talented woman.

Best wishes Ms. Nash,

Louise and Stuart Brown

- Hi....I just returned home from watching and listening to your wonderful production at the Kay Meek Centre.

I came across the ad in the local paper. I looked up your website to find out about The Bird and the Waterfall. I wasn't sure what it was going to be but when I read the cast names I knew it had to be good music, if nothing else.Thank you for the best $10 I could have spent.I wish you much success with this & hope it raises lots of money for the cause.
